Puppy & Junior Classes

Learn how to teach your puppy in a stress free environment, using modern, kind and motivational methods. Apply these new skills for the entire life of your puppy.

My training method is all based on positive reinforcement. In addition to more conventional techniques and verbal commands, I will also teach you “clicker training”. Clicker training is a very effective way to communicate and train dogs.

My challenge is to ensure that both you and your puppy graduate from our Puppy School happy, satisfied and confident that you understand each other. This is the foundation step to build a strong bond and continue the training beyond the class environment. I also always encourage multiple members of the family to participate in the classes so that everybody understands how to communicate efficiently and consistently with your puppy or young dog.

We offer our Puppy and Junior Schools as Live attendance classes or as Online learning supported by full videos of all the exercises we work through in the Live Classes. Students attending the Live classes also get access to all the Online material.

During the Summer all our Live classes are taught outdoors at a training venue near to Inverurie, Aberdeenshire. We move indoors during the winter months.

During each of the classes I also include information and tips to help you take the best care of the health, both body and mind, of your pet.

All of my puppy classes are kept small and exclusive with usually no more than 8 students. You can feel confident that I will provide efficient feedback and that you will have enough space to work comfortably with your puppy. I am also able provide individual training sessions on-demand.

Puppy School

This class is aimed at teaching your puppy the basic commands and good manners in addition to basic socialisation. Don’t delay to enrol in the Puppy School. As soon as your puppy has had its first set of inoculation injections it is ready to join in the classes. You will be surprised how quickly a young puppy learns, the earlier you start its training the easier you will find it will be.

I will also discuss common puppy topics such as toilet training, mouthing, crate training, resource guarding which will help you avoid some of the common issues.

Junior School

The Junior School is a step up from the Puppy School for graduate puppies or junior dogs who have missed out on puppy training. The classes re-enforce the behaviours taught in the puppy school along with introducing additional skills, increased distance work, fun exercises to test that the training foundations are rock solid, and a lot more tricks!

I will also discuss new topics such as basic body language, cutting your dogs nails or choosing the right food for your puppy/junior dog.

Adult beginners classes for dogs over a year old

I also run private 121 sessions for dogs who have never taken a course before or owners who are not familiar with the training concepts of positive reinforcement and shaping. As these sessions are not formal group sessions they are tailored to the specific dog and/or training requirements based on the information gathered about you and your dog before the start of the training session.
